Psychology Services
Revamp Psychology provides psychological treatment for people affected by personal injury across New South Wales. Treatment is evidence-based, recovery-focused, and tailored to the individual. It draws on approaches such as cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), EMDR, the Progressive Goal Attainment Program (PGAP), and pain management strategies, used where clinically appropriate.
Services are delivered by telehealth across metropolitan, regional and rural NSW, and in-person appointments in Strathfield where this suits the person. Where treatment is provided within the Workers Compensation or CTP schemes, it is funded through the scheme once approved.
Treatment under the injury schemes
The two main pathways into treatment, depending on how the injury occurred:
Psychological treatment for injured workers under the NSW Workers Compensation (WorkCover) scheme, covering anxiety, low mood, trauma symptoms, adjustment difficulties, and the psychological effects of a workplace injury or claim.
Psychological treatment for people recovering from a car accident or motor vehicle accident under the NSW CTP scheme, covering trauma symptoms, driving and travel anxiety, sleep disturbance, low mood, and pain-related distress.
Conditions and presentations we work with
Matt Semsar provides psychological treatment for a range of presentations that arise after injury, whether the injury is physical, psychological, or both. Areas of focus include:
After a workplace injury (Workers Compensation / WorkCover)
Difficulty adjusting to changed capacity, loss of routine, reduced work identity, and the disruption an injury brings to daily life, including adjustment disorder.
Persistent low mood, loss of motivation, and depression that develop after a workplace injury or as recovery becomes prolonged and uncertain.
Anxiety, worry about recovery, health anxiety, and heightened stress connected to the injury, the workplace, or the claims process.
Trauma responses following a workplace incident, including intrusive memories, heightened alertness, and avoidance, as well as primary psychological injury from a traumatic event at work.
The psychological impact of persistent or chronic pain, including fear-avoidance, reduced activity, frustration, and the effect of pain on mood and sleep.
Reduced confidence, sleep disturbance, and difficulty re-engaging with work and usual activities during recovery.
After a motor vehicle accident (CTP)
Fear or anxiety about driving or being a passenger after a car accident, often with a strong urge to avoid the road, traffic, or the location of the accident.
Post-traumatic stress following a motor vehicle accident, including flashbacks, nightmares, hypervigilance, and distress when reminded of what happened.
Low mood, irritability, withdrawal, and difficulty adjusting to the disruption an accident causes to work, independence, and everyday life.
Anxiety, panic, and a sense of being constantly on edge that can follow a frightening accident, with or without significant physical injury.
Difficulty falling or staying asleep, distressing dreams, and fatigue that can slow physical recovery after an accident.
The emotional impact of ongoing pain following an accident, including its effect on mood, confidence, and daily function.
Treatment is tailored to each person, and not everyone experiences all of these. If you are unsure whether your situation fits, you are welcome to get in touch.
Specialist focus areas
Alongside the presentations above, Revamp Psychology offers focused treatment in three areas that often arise within injury recovery. Each has its own dedicated page:
Psychological treatment for persistent and chronic pain following injury, including the relationship between pain, mood, activity, and function.
EMDR and trauma-focused therapy for post-traumatic stress and trauma symptoms following a workplace incident or motor vehicle accident.
Psychological therapy for the distress, sleep disruption, and concentration difficulties that can accompany tinnitus after noise exposure or injury.
How treatment is funded
Where treatment has been approved under Workers Compensation or CTP, sessions are funded through the relevant scheme and there are generally no out-of-pocket costs. Approval is usually arranged with the help of your GP, and can typically be clarified before booking. You can read more about how this works on the Workers Compensation and CTP pages, or in the resources section.
